Contribute to a “doping-free” sport
Situation: DOPING, THE SCOURGE OF SPORTS COMPETITIONSYou can be part of these organizers who say that doping is not their problem and that close their eyes or those who have a healthy vision of sport but who do not know concretely what to do to contribute to a sport without doping. Without realizing it, doping has a direct impact on your event. We are not talking here about the simple fact of unfortunately giving a medal to a cheater, or the bad publicity if an athlete was tested positive on your event without you having undertaken anything, but especially of the legal risk incurred. Indeed because who says doping, said taking drugs and therefore increase the risk of serious accident during the race (Tom Simpson on the Tour de France 1967 is a very sad example and far from being the only …) Beyond doping is the whole problem of self-medication that can have serious consequences not only for the participants but also for you as an organizer. How many participants transferred to hospital or worse admitted to intensive care admit to having consume massively during the race of ibuprofen, diclofenac, paracetamol, tramadol … Yet an effective solution based on prevention from the QUARTZ program exists.
The QUARTZ solution :
A prevention solution against doping for your event
The QUARTZ program has been deployed since 2015 in the world of trail running
and is already present on the 50 biggest events of the “planet trail” including through the Ultra-Trail World Tour (UTWT) and Golden Trail Series (GTS).
- When an organizer decides to set up the QUARTZ program on his event
the program is called “QUARTZ Event” ,
- when it is a sportsman followed by the year under the QUARTZ program,
it is then called “QUARTZ Elite” .
Like all other participants, these elite athletes will be invited to create their health space. We then define a strategy of biological analyzes towards these elite athletes, in the 30 days before the departure, which will allow at the same time to protect their health (by identifying possible pathologies) but also to contribute to a sport without doping.
In fact, the case of the abnormal biological profile identified by our medical commission (ie the elite athlete would present a potentially vital risk to start with such a profile) a “no start rule” would be applied and the elite athlete would not then not allowed to take the start for health reasons (legally possible with the article added to your rules of procedure).
In parallel, as provided for in Article 5.8 of the World Anti-Doping Code , all such information on the profile of the elite athlete concerned is forwarded to the organizations in charge of anti-doping which can then target their control strategy.
LIKE DOZENS OF OTHER ORGANIZERS
WHO HAVE ALREADY CHOSEN TO PARTICIPATE,
THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO A DOPING-FREE SPORT.
The article on “health policy“ is added in your rules of procedure .
Like all participants, elite athletes are invited to create their health space when they register .
In the 30 days before the start (D-30),elite athletes carry out “at home” a blood, urine or hair analysis requested by our teams.
On the spot the day before the event (D-1) in agreement with the organizer,a second series of analysis can be done on elite athletes .
The health commission, in agreement with the organizer, can decide in case of an abnormal profile of an out of competition of an elite athlete for reasons of health .
In the event of an abnormal profile , information on the elite athlete concerned is sent to the organizations in charge of anti-doping so that they can better target their controls.
